Kat is a Pilipinx American and a child of Philippine immigrants. She was born and raised in the Bay Area, more specifically Union City, CA, but is currently residing in San Jose.
INTERESTS
Kat is a versatile individual who thrives on pushing boundaries and exploring new interests. From performing to Pilipinx cultural and contemporary dancing, DIY projects to graphic design, and from watching TV series to traveling, her list of passions is extensive. She also enjoys activities like photography, board games, and staying active through various sports and fitness routines. When she's not busy with her hobbies, you'll find her spending quality time with friends and her beloved dog, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, or immersing herself in music events.
Kat's journey in performing arts began early on, starting with elementary school choir and extending into middle school choirs, church choir, and even her school's spirit squad. However, it was during her middle school years that she discovered her love for dance, particularly contemporary and Pilipinx cultural dancing. She finds profound meaning in the expressive movements that convey diverse narratives, especially in Pilipinx cultural dances, which speak to her heritage and identity. This passion led her to take on roles such as Pilipinx Cultural dance director for AkbayanSJSU's Pilipinx Cultural Night (PCN) and later becoming part of the cultural dance troupe, Kawayan Folk Arts.
